CLIENT REVIEWS
In Their Own Words
Serena Lim Hui Ying
Kota Kinabalu · Will Drafting
"I had been putting off making a will for years because I assumed it would involve a lot of paperwork and pressure. The advocate I met at Wasiat was patient and took her time explaining each clause. I did not feel rushed at any point, and the fee was as quoted — no surprises."

Penampang · Estate Administration
"When my father passed earlier this year, I had no idea where to begin with the estate. The team at Wasiat took over the correspondence and filings, and kept me updated at each stage. It took around five months to settle — longer than I had hoped, but the advocate explained that this was normal for an estate with property involved. Fees were fair and clearly explained."

Inanam · Will Review
"I had a will drafted several years ago and wanted it reviewed after my circumstances changed. David at Wasiat went through the document with me clause by clause, pointed out two sections that were no longer accurate, and helped me update them through a codicil. Straightforward and clearly priced."

Tuaran · Inheritance Dispute
"There was a disagreement among my siblings over our mother's estate. Nadia at Wasiat helped us work through the matter carefully — her approach was measured and she kept the tone calm in what could have been a much more difficult situation. We reached an agreed arrangement without going to court."

Kota Kinabalu · Estate Administration
"Rosalin helped me administer my late husband's estate. I was in a difficult state and she was very considerate of that throughout. She handled correspondence with the banks and land office so I did not have to do it myself. I appreciated that she explained each step without making it feel rushed."

Likas · Will Drafting
"My wife and I both made wills at Wasiat. The process took two meetings and was very manageable. David prepared a draft after the first meeting and walked us through it at the second. We had a few changes and they were incorporated without any fuss. The price was reasonable for what we received."

CASE STUDIES
Three Matters, How They Progressed
A brief account of how three different situations were handled — not to promote outcomes, but to give a realistic picture of how we work.
A Family Putting Their Wishes in Writing
Will Drafting · Two weeks · Kota Kinabalu
Situation
A couple in their mid-fifties, one a business owner, the other employed. Neither had ever made a will and were concerned about how their property and business interests would be handled.
What We Did
Two separate wills were prepared after an initial consultation. The business ownership question required some additional consideration regarding the nature of the shareholding. Both documents were explained in full at a review meeting before signing.
Outcome
Both wills signed and witnessed within two weeks of the initial appointment. The clients left with originals in hand and a brief plain-language summary of the key provisions for their personal records.
Settling an Estate with Property in Sabah
Estate Administration · Seven months · Multiple beneficiaries
Situation
An estate involving a residential property in Kota Kinabalu, savings accounts at two banks, and four beneficiaries including one living abroad. There was a valid will, but the executor had never dealt with probate before.
What We Did
We filed for grant of probate, prepared the estate inventory, corresponded with both banks, and handled the land transfer paperwork. The executor was updated at each significant stage and never had to make court appearances alone.
Outcome
Estate fully administered within seven months. All assets distributed to beneficiaries. The overseas beneficiary was kept informed by email throughout and received their share without needing to travel back to Malaysia.
A Family Disagreement Resolved without Court
Inheritance Dispute · Three months · Negotiated resolution
Situation
Three siblings could not agree on the distribution of their late mother's estate. One felt the will did not reflect conversations had before the death. Tensions made direct communication difficult.
What We Did
We represented one sibling and corresponded carefully with the other two, first establishing the basis of each party's position. Rather than pursuing litigation, we proposed a mediated discussion and facilitated a three-party meeting to work toward an agreed arrangement.
Outcome
A written settlement agreement was reached within three months. The matter was concluded without court proceedings, which reduced both cost and further damage to family relationships. All parties signed the agreement willingly.
